Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
