Netflix Selects Ideal Star for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is geared up to exert significant influence in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the major clash won’t unfold until the next season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Mr. 2. The role possesses the power to change into an exact copy of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. Escola, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a interpretation of that character reimagined as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag artist, in the live-action show, as in the source material and animated series.

This performer joins a number of new cast members set to bring the group to the screen, including chief Sir Crocodile, played by the well-known actor, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Although the role is a major member of Baroque Works, the persona won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Considering the next season set to cover the Little Garden storyline, this signals a notable change in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate additional alterations to the narrative framework.

Their mix of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the part. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.

Netflix's live-action One Piece series is set to return for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
