19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
