American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in popular programs like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per media reports.

"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a message.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

A Notable Television Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a party host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on several popular shows, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His film credits are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He guided, supported, and advised many learners over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.

The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
