Assassin's Creed Unveils Bizarre AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that breaks usual forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the authorized release, "An unusual encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of prohibited practices and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a secret cult.
The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses
The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, probably the hostage, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Content
Players who successfully complete the quest will acquire an exclusive katana together with numerous artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Content
This patch also brings the game's newest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
